Coming alongside a moored or anchored boat can sometimes be tricky, despite it being part of the RYA Level 2 beginner dinghy syllabus. The drill tests your ability to determine wind direction, points of sail and speed control.

About the Challenge Sheets:

• One sheet tests coming alongside know-how when wind and tide are together
• Sheet 2 tests coming alongside knowledge when the wind and tide are slightly off, and opposing
• Each sheet has a diagram with the method on and a range of questions about the techniques, challenging students to think about the reasons that the method is the way it is.
