The Sand to Salt How to Master Coming Alongside a Boat - Activity.

Coming alongside a moored or anchored boat can sometimes be tricky, despite it being part of the RYA Level 2 dinghy syllabus. The drill tests your ability to determine wind direction, points of sail and speed control. This is why we use it from RYA Level 2 right up to Instructor Pre-Entry, to assess sailing ability.

• And when wind and tide are opposing. And when slightly off.
• Safety precautions
• Explanations of the methods

The activity asks students to annotate  / draw in the different methods for CAS in different conditions, depending on their level of experience.
