Gybing Activity 1 – Aft Main

The Sand to Salt Gybing Activity Sheet (1) for Centremain Double-handed Dinghies.

This activity sheet forms part of our tacking and gybing series for small sailing boats (dinghies) and helps with revising the essential steps needed to complete a safe, efficient gybe . This sheet is for students who have learned how to gybe with our poster and are testing their knowledge.

A gybe is when the boat is turned with the stern turning though the no go zone (through the wind). Aft mainsheet refers to boats where the mainsheet comes from the back of the boat via a traveller.

This activity looks similar to the Gybing Poster, but asks you to complete the missing sections of text, guided with the rest of the sentences and diagrams.
