The Sand to Salt How To Master Lee Shore Landings Challenge Sheets.
This activity sheet forms part of our Lee-shore landings series for small sailing boats (dinghies) and asks a series of questions on the technique. This sheet is for students who have learned how to perform a lee shore landing with our other resources, and can help start a more comprehensive discussion with an instructor about the manoeuvre.
A Lee Shore is any shore with the wind blowing onto it. Lee shores can be challenging to return to, as the wind is behind the boat, making it difficult to slow down and stop. This technique is used by more advanced sailor wishing to recover a boat in a more controlled, seaman-like manner.
