The Sand to Salt How to Master Man Overboard Drill - Challenge Sheet.

One of the most important manoeuvres to master is is Man Overboard Drill - Not just in case your crew falls overboard, but also because it really tests your ability to safely control a boat. The drill tests your ability to determine wind direction, points of sail and speed control. This is why we use it from RYA Level 2 right up to Instructor Pre-Entry, to assess sailing ability - not because crew keep falling out! (Although that is obviously important!)

This Challenge Sheet is a great way to test knowledge in a fun and informal manner.

About the Challenge sheet:

• The MOB drill diagram is at the top of the page to remind students of how to execute the drill
• There are then 8 questions relating to the correct procedure.
• Many of the questions quiz the student on the reasons why we do the drill in the way that is taught
• Questions ask the student about safety aspects as well as boat control techniques used.
