Tacking Activity 1 – Centremain

Tacking Activity 1 - Centremain

The Sand to Salt Tacking Activity Sheet (1) for Centremain Double-handed Dinghies.

This activity sheet forms part of our tacking and gybing series for small sailing boats (dinghies) and helps with revising the essential steps needed to complete a safe, efficient tack . This sheet is for students who have learned how to tack with our poster and are testing their knowledge.

A tack is when the boat is turned more than 90 degrees with the bow turning though the no go zone (through the wind) and over to the other side. Centremain refers to where the mainsheet is located in the boat - if it comes from the middle, it is centremain.

This activity looks similar to the Tacking Poster, but asks you to complete the missing sections of text, guided with the rest of the sentences and diagrams.

About the Tacking Activity:

  • 1 x Full colour Tacking activity sheet (centremainsheet doublehanded tacking)
