How many knots?

How many knots?

How many knots can you find? This activity is aimed at younger learners - whether they know their nautical knots or knot(!)

Get your students to count all of the knots that look the same and enter the totals in the text at the bottom - be careful, some look similar!

It's a great way to get students to recognise each knot and learn their names, of even to just get 10 minutes peace! If your child / students are learning the beginner stages of sailing and powerboating, these are the knots they will frequently use to rig their boats and carry out boating tasks.

FIND THESE KNOTS:
  • Figure 8 knot
  • Round turn and 2 half hitches
  • Bowline
  • Reef knot
  • Clove hitch

An extra resource on the answers page - Can your child draw the knots? It's definitely a challenge!

Download includes:
  • 1 x A4 Activity sheet
  • 1 x A4 Answers and extra challenge sheet
  • related resources
